Holy Week
in Christianity is the week just before Easter. It is also the last week of Lent, in the West, – Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday (Spy Wednesday), Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday), Good Friday
(Holy Friday), and Holy Saturday
Easter Day, which begins the season of Eastertide, is not. However, traditions observing the Easter Triduum may overlap or displace part of Holy Week or Easter itself within that additional liturgical period.
Holy Week and Easter Day liturgies attract the biggest crowds of the year.
Holy Triduum
Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday are sacred days and called the Holy Triduum, which means "three days." They remain a time for solemn reflection. In the Catholic church, the days between Ash Wednesday and the First Sunday of Lent are part of Lent but are not counted in the 40 days.
